Overview
The Audio Redaction feature in CaseGuard Studio is popular among individuals seeking to conceal data from audio or video recordings. While the mute and bleep effects serve the purpose of concealing Personally Identifiable Information (PII) within audio recordings, CaseGuard’s suite of editing tools proves invaluable in simplifying the process of locating specific data within a recording. Pre-editing your recordings, such as cutting segments, prior to redaction can significantly expedite the redaction process!
Editing Tools
Cut Segment:
- Remove sections of audio and video files. For example, sections of an audio or video containing audio that has no noise, a lot of background noise, or is irrelevant to the user. An example would be removing parts of a recording that have no noise, making the redaction and export process faster.
Change Speed
- Change the speed of select sections of an audio file. For example, sections of an audio file can be slowed down or sped up. An example would be a video with multiple people speaking, slowing down the audio would allow for precise redaction of any Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
Noise Removal
- Remove the background noise of an audio file. This will remove all the extra noises in the background of a video so the voices in the audio file can be heard clearly. An example would be an interview with a person in an area with a lot of background noise. Removing the background noise will help the system catch the PII much more clearly!
Change Voice
- Change the voice(s) of speakers in an audio or video file. This feature allows users to modify how a speaker sounds in order to protect their identity. An example would be altering the voice of a victim, witness, or confidential informant so their identity remains protected while still preserving the spoken content of the recording.
