How to: Merge Objects in the Object Detection Panel

Overview

When running the AI Video detection on CaseGuard, you may notice the same object appearing multiple times. This is due to the object’s appearance changing throughout the video. Fortunately, with CaseGuard, you are able to easily merge these objects correctly for easier organization and quicker redaction.

To begin using the object detection panel, you will first need to run the AI Video feature on your CaseGuard. Once run, you will have objects in your object detection panel, and you will be able to easily merge the effects with their correct object.

Follow these steps to Merge Objects in the Object Detection Panel

  • In the left-hand toolbar, select AI Video, and the AI Automatic Detection window will appear with the following options:

  • Select all the objects you would like to redact, then click Next.
  • Apply the desired Shape and Effect for each object. The default shape is Ellipse. You can add effects using the “Add Effect” dropdown. Your selected effect will appear in the Sample Preview image on the right.
  • Fine-tune the Effect Level if necessary.
  • Optionally, set Redaction Reason(s).

  • Click Next.
  • Select whether to apply your redactions to the entire video or a Selected Range. Choosing a selected range can speed up the export process.
  • Click Next.
  • In the Advanced Options window, you can adjust the confidence level, indicate your video quality, and/or choose to classify objects if needed.

  • Begin the redaction process by clicking Apply.
  • CaseGuard will begin applying the selected effects to your video. You can see the progress in the bottom-right corner.
  • You’ll also see progress reflected in the Effects Timeline.
  • Detected objects will be displayed as image thumbnails in the Object Detection Panel, as shown below:
  • In the Object Detection Panel, locate any duplicate objects (e.g., the same person shown as multiple entries).
  • To merge these objects, select the checkboxes next to each entry that represents the same object.

  • Once all matching objects are selected, navigate to the bottom of the panel and click the three dots.

  • From the menu, click Merge Effects to merge the selected objects into one.
