Overview
CaseGuard Studio allows you to rotate or flip your footage in real time, so you can see the adjusted orientation instantly – without needing to export the video first. This feature is especially useful when correcting camera angles or reviewing mirrored video footage.
Use Case Example
Imagine you’re reviewing footage from a camera that was installed upside down or mirrored. Before performing redactions, you need to correct the orientation to ensure accuracy. Using CaseGuard Studio’s real-time Rotate or Flip function, you can instantly view the corrected footage without exporting multiple versions – saving time and ensuring your edits align correctly.
Step-by-Step Instructions
-
In CaseGuard Studio, navigate to the beginning of the video you want to rotate or flip.
-
On the left vertical toolbar, click the first option, Manual.

-
Draw a redaction box anywhere on the video.
-
Right-click the redaction box and select Copy Effects.

-
From the Shape dropdown menu, choose any shape (the specific shape doesn’t affect rotation or flip).

-
In the middle of the Copy Effects window, click the “+” icon to add an effect.

-
Scroll through the list and select your preferred effect – Rotate, Flip Horizontally, or Flip Vertically.

-
Once added, the new effect will stack on top of the default effect (usually “Adaptive Blur”).
-
Cross out any other effects so only your Rotate or Flip effect remains active.

-
If you chose Rotate, enter your preferred rotation degree in the field provided.

-
You can also use the up and down arrow keys to adjust the angle incrementally.
-
Use the preview window on the right side to see how your footage rotates or flips in real time.
-
Navigate to the Additional Options section at the bottom.
-
Under the Type dropdown, select Full Frame.

-
Click Next.
-
Choose Whole File to apply the effect to the entire video, or select Selected Range to apply it only to a specific section.

-
Click Next, then click Apply.
Your video will now display the rotated or flipped orientation instantly, allowing you to preview and adjust it as needed before export.
Conclusion
With CaseGuard Studio’s Rotate and Flip tools, you can easily adjust video orientation in real time and preview the results instantly. This eliminates the need for repeated exports, helping you make quick corrections, align redactions accurately, and maintain workflow efficiency when working with rotated or mirrored footage.
