In this article, we’ll go over how to change the default redaction shape and effects in CaseGuard Studio. By default, video redactions use a rectangle shape with the pixelate effect. However, depending on your project needs or agency requirements, you may want to switch to a different shape or effect.
Note: These changes apply only to manual video redactions. For AI-generated redactions, the shape and effect are applied based on your selection at the time of redaction.
Follow the steps below to change the default redaction shape and effect settings in CaseGuard Studio.
Steps to Change Default Redaction Shape and Effect
1. In CaseGuard, go to Tools in the top-left corner.
2. From the dropdown menu, select Settings.

3. In Settings, click Media Defaults on the left-hand panel.
4. Under the Video Settings section:
-
- Choose your preferred Default Shape (Ellipse, Rectangle, etc.)
- Select your Default Effect (Blur, Pixelate, Solid Fill, etc.)

5. Once you’ve made your selections, click Close in the bottom-right corner.
You can now manually redact using the new default settings. Try it out by dragging a redaction shape onto an object in a video frame to confirm the updated shape and effect are applied.
Conclusion
Customizing your default redaction shape and effects can save time during video redaction workflows and ensures consistency across all your projects. With the right defaults set, you can focus more on the work that matters most.
