How To: Use Video Editing Tools to Speed Up Your Video Redaction

Overview

CaseGuard Studio’s video redaction tools go way beyond simply blurring sensitive content. While Manual Video Redaction, Object Tracking, and AI Video features handle the job of removing personally identifiable information (PII) from videos, the built-in editing tools play an equally important role in simplifying the process of locating specific data within a recording. Pre-editing your files, such as cutting, dropping, or adjusting video segments, can dramatically speed up the entire video redaction workflow.

Editing Tools

1. Cut Segment:

  • Cut out specific sections of your video (or audio within a video) so you can focus your redactions exactly where needed. This is especially helpful for long files. For example, if only the final 10 minutes of a 4-hour surveillance video require redaction, cutting the file first will significantly speed up detection and export during the video redaction process.

2. Drop Segment:

  • Remove unwanted or irrelevant audio portions from your recording. This can include areas with silence, excessive background noise, or segments that do not require review. Dropping unnecessary audio helps streamline redactions and speeds up processing.

3. Change Speed:

  • Adjust the speed of specific audio sections within a video. Slowing down the audio can help you clearly identify and redact spoken PII in complex scenes involving multiple speakers. Speeding up irrelevant segments can also reduce total review time, making your video redaction tasks more efficient.

4. Crop:

  • The Crop tool lets you isolate specific portions of your video frame. This is useful for highlighting or focusing on the area where redactions will occur.

5. Take Snapshots:

  • In CaseGuard, you can extract images from a video using the Take Screenshot “Take Snapshots” Tool. By taking snapshots from videos, you can instantly capture unlimited images from your videos.

6. Resize:

  • Resize allows you to change the size of the video you are editing by either percentage size or pixel size. You can also select Preserve Aspect Ratio to ensure that the aspect ratio of your video does not change in the resizing process.

7. Rotate:

  • Use the Rotate tool to rotate or flip moving video footage. Correcting orientation before redaction ensures that detection tools perform accurately and consistently. This helps maintain precision and improves the overall editing workflow.
