How to: Import Files From Axon into CaseGuard

New in CaseGuard 9.7: Axon Integration

With the release of CaseGuard 9.7, we are excited to introduce a new Axon integration, making it easier than ever to import your evidence directly into CaseGuard for redaction.

With this integration, you can securely access and import files stored in Axon Evidence (Evidence.com), including videos, PDFs, PST files, and more, just like you would with any standard local file. Redact them and then share the redacted version back to Evidence.com.

This new workflow eliminates the need to manually download files from Axon before importing them into CaseGuard, saving time and streamlining your redaction process.

What You Can Import from Axon

You can import the same file types supported by CaseGuard, including:

  • Video files
  • Audio files
  • Images
  • PDF documents
  • PST email archives
  • Other supported media and document formats

One-Time Setup Requirements

Before users can access Axon Evidence from CaseGuard Studio, the following setup steps must be completed.

  1. Enable CaseGuard Integration in Axon

This step only needs to be completed once per agency.

  1. Sign in to CaseGuard Studio using an Axon administrator account.
  2. Open the CaseGuard Studio Import Wizard and select Axon.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions at the bottom of the wizard.
  1. Verify User Permissions

Ensure the Axon account has sufficient permissions to:

  • Browse files
  • Download files
  • Upload files back to Evidence.com

Without these permissions, users may be able to sign in but will not see search results or be able to upload redacted files.

(The existing permissions will be updated here later)

How to Use the Axon Integration

Importing from Axon When Creating a New Project

1. Create a new project in CaseGuard Studio.

2. When you reach the Import Wizard, select Axon as your import source.

3. Then you will see a pop-up that says: “Please sign in to Evidence.com.”

4. Click Sign In and enter your agency domain.

Only the first portion of the domain is required.

5. A secure Axon login window will appear. Enter your Axon credentials

Security Note:

Axon handles authentication directly. CaseGuard does not access or store user credentials.

6. After a successful login, you will be able to search for your files using the filters on the search bar.

7. Searching and Importing Files

Use the search bar to find files by:

  • File ID
  • Title
  • Tags
  • Category
  • Users or Groups

You may also switch to Case Number search for more targeted results.

8. Select your file(s) and proceed with the import into the current project.

9. Apply redactions as usual.

10. Click Export. If the file originated from Axon, you will see a checkbox labeled “Export to Evidence.com.”

Enable this option to upload the redacted version back to Axon. Uploaded files retain the same name as the local redacted file.

Importing from Axon into an Existing Project

You can import Axon files into an existing project by using the “Add File” button.

  1. Open your existing CaseGuard project.
  2. Click Add File (either at the top left of Caseguard under File < Add file or by clicking “Add file” at the bottom of the project files panel.
  1. In the file source window, select Axon.
  2. Follow the same Evidence.com sign-in and Axon login process described above.
  3. Search for your files and select the file(s) you want to import.

Why This Integration Matters
