From large call centers located in major metropolitan areas to small private businesses that record phone calls when interacting with their respective customers, audio redaction software provides consumers and business professionals alike with the ability to safeguard personal privacy data and privacy as it pertains to audio recordings. To this point, CaseGuard Studio provides users of the software with a multitude of features geared toward redacting audio in a manner that is straightforward, intuitive, and most importantly, effective. These various features include manual audio redaction, automatic audio transcription, and redaction using artificial intelligence analytics.
Manual audio redaction
CaseGuard Studio’s Manual Audio Redaction feature represents the most basic way in which users of the software can go about redacting an audio recording or file. When a user uploads an audio file to the software, an audio wavelength will be created within the media player. Subsequently, users can listen to their audio file and then place redaction boxes over any sections of the audio where personally identifiable information is spoken or disclosed. This can be accomplished in a number of ways. For example, users can left-click on their mouse and drag a redaction box over a particular section of the audio wavelength, as seen in the screenshot above.
What’s more, there are also 3 different audio effects that can be used to redact audio files in CaseGuard Studio, including the Mute, Bleep, and Resample effects. Furthermore, the software also allows users to redact audio files in accordance with specific time stamps, should a user have this information available to them ahead of time. In such cases, a user can enter the start and end times that correspond to the portions of the audio file they’d like to redact, and then apply the audio effects of their choosing. Moreover, the Press & Hold, as well as the Capture Start Time and Capture End Time buttons give users of the software another means to manually redact audio files, as seen in the screenshot above. Irrespective of the specific feature that a user chooses, the redaction boxes that are placed on the audio wavelength can be adjusted and resized at any time.
Automatic transcription
On the other hand, users of CaseGuard Studio can also redact audio files by using the Automatic Transcription feature within the software. To begin this process, users can click on the Transcription tab within the right-hand section of the software, and then click on the Auto-Transcribe button within this tab to initiate the transcription, as seen in the screenshot above. When the transcription process is completed, users of the software will then see a written transcription in the language of their choice. For context, users of CasGuard Studio can automatically transcribe and translate audio files in over 30 different languages, ranging from Spanish to Indian Hindi.
When reviewing the written transcription, users can right-click on a word, and then redact the word within the audio file by selecting either the Mute, Bleep, or Resample effect from the downtown menu. Likewise, users will also be able to see the section of the audio file that was redacted within the audio wavelength in the media player. Conversely, users can also right-click on their mouse to highlight a sentence or paragraph within the written transcription that they would like to redact, and then right-click on the highlighted text to apply one of the 3 audio redaction effects. In addition to all this, the software also allows users to edit any word, sentence, or phrase within the written transcription by right-clicking on the text and then selecting Edit from the dropdown menu, should the system fail to pick up a certain word or sentence.
AI analytics
A third feature contained within CaseGuard Studio that enables users to redact audio recordings or files is the AI Analytics feature. To use this feature, users of the software can first auto-transcribe their audio files via the steps discussed in the previous section of this article. However, instead of manually redacting the words within the written transcription by clicking on a particular word or highlighting a specific section of the text, the AI Analytics feature automates the process even further. To this end, users can click on the Analytics section of the Transcription tab to view a list of all categories of personally identifiable information that were detected during the automatic transcription process.
These forms of personal data will be broken down into different categories such as dates/times, addresses, and quantities, among a host of others. On top of this, users can also click on a particular word or phrase that has been detected by the system, and then choose to Mute, Bleep, or Resample this portion of the audio file at the click of a button. There is also a Go-To Position button within the software that will take users to the exact portion of the transcription where a particular word or phrase was spoken. This feature is ideal for longer audio files or recordings that may contain large amounts of personal information, as redacting this information using manual methods could prove to be time-consuming and tedious.
The numerous audio redaction features contained within CaseGuard Studio are designed to give users the tools necessary to redact audio files in the simplest and most efficient manner possible. Regardless of the particular feature that a user chooses when redacting an audio file, they can rest assured that they will be able to safeguard the personal privacy of their clients, customers, or business partners, as the unauthorized disclosure of personal information represents an inherent risk for all parties involved. In this way, the team at CaseGuard studio continues to work to ensure that the method of redaction is made accessible to all people.
