CaseGuard Studio offers a host of features and capabilities geared toward meeting a wide range of redaction needs. Whether you are a hospital looking to censor a patient’s PHI information when releasing emails to the public or a law firm looking to redact the sensitive information of one of your clients in a video clip, CaseGuard studio has the cutting edge technology needed to complete the job. However, some may be wondering about the best way to go about a more simple and straightforward task: redacting a single person from a video recording. This can be done through various features in CaseGuard, including manual redaction, object tracking, and automatic detection. The method that a particular client or user may choose will depend on their level of comfort when using technology as well as their specific professional needs.
Redacting one person using manual redaction
The most common way to redact a single person from a video, in general, is to do it manually. CaseGuard Studio allows users to draw redactions in five distinct shapes including rectangles, triangles, circles, ellipses, and diamonds. These shapes can then be embedded with over 20 video effects, including blur, pixelate, add color, invert color, erode, and dilate, among many others. After drawing the shape over the target person, you can then play the video and move the shape when the person moves within your video. You can see how easy this can be in the video below:

Alternatively, CaseGuard’s object tracking feature can also be used to redact a single person from a video. Much like the manual feature, object tracking allows users to draw redactions in 5 distinct shapes. However, object tracking differs from manual redaction in that once you draw the shape, the software will follow the person in the video automatically without any further effort on the part of the user. All you need to do is to play the video and the system will automatically move the shape to stay over the target person. Additionally, you will always be able to stop the video and adjust the size and the location of the shape if needed. In the video below, you can see how the object tracking feature is working:
Redacting one person using automatic detection
Lastly, users can opt to redact a single person in a video using CaseGuard Studios’ automatic detection feature. This feature is unique in that the software will automatically redact personal or sensitive information in up to six categories, including faces, screens, license plates, paper, people, and vehicles. So, to redact one person in a video, we will select “person,” and the system will automatically detect all the people that appear in the video. To apply the redaction only to one person, all you need to do is to check one box called “Classification.” This will help the system identify whether the person X in frame 1 is the same as person Y in frame 2. After that, you select to disable redaction from all people except for the target person using a simple click on a checkbox. Watch the video below to see how the automatic detection works:
As redacting a video can be a very difficult and daunting task, CaseGuard Studio strives to provide clients with software options that make the process of redaction as easy and seamless as possible. No matter your specific redaction needs or the industry you work in, CaseGuard has features you need to get the job done with both accuracy and efficiency.
