Performing Manual Redaction in CaseGuard Studio

Steps to Begin Manual Redaction:

  1. Add a Video File:
    • Start by adding a video file to CaseGuard Studio.
  2. Tool Properties Panel:
    • Once a video file is added, the Tool Properties Panel will automatically display options for performing manual redaction.
    • The options in the Tool Properties Panel will change based on the tool selected from the Toolbar, such as AI Automatic Detection, Cut, or Drop Media.
  3. Select Redaction Shape:
    • In the Tool Properties Panel, choose a redaction shape from the dropdown menu. Options include Rectangle, Triangle, Ellipse, and Diamond.
  4. Choose Redaction or Enhancement Effects:
    • Select from four redaction effects or choose an enhancement effect.
    • Enhancement effects are useful for tasks like reading license plates, identifying tattoos, and seeing suspects in poorly lit environments.
  5. Specify Redaction Reason:
    • Choose a reason from the Reasons list or add a new one by clicking the “plus sign” and selecting “Add New.”
  6. Redaction Options:
    • The default redaction option is Standard, which redacts everything behind the box.
    • The Reverse option redacts everything except the selected area.
    • The Full Frame option redacts everything in the frame where the redaction box is drawn.
  7. Advanced Options:
    • Click “Advanced Options” to adjust border thickness, choose border color, and opt to show titles for each redaction box.

Applying Enhancement Effects:

  • Play the video and layer enhancement effects to improve visibility.
  • Draw a redaction box over the license plate and select the “Magnify” enhancement to zoom in.
  • Add “Sharpen” and “Gray Scale” effects to enhance pixel quality and make characters easier to discern. For example, a license plate might now read L-0-S-F-5-1-4.

Managing Redaction Boxes:

  • In the Tool Properties Panel, you can view all redaction boxes for the current frame.
  • You can delete or disable these boxes directly from this panel or from the Object Detection Panel.
