How to Use the Split Screen Feature for Merging Videos

The Split Screen feature allows you to merge selected videos into one, which can be useful for exporting, editing, or redacting. A common use case is combining security footage from multiple angles to comply with a Freedom of Information Act request.

Steps to Merge Videos:

  1. Select Bulk Processing:
    • Click the Bulk Processing icon located between the Save and Redaction Pool icons at the top of your screen.
  2. Choose Operation:
    • From the Operation Drop Down menu, select “Merge Media Split Screen.”
  3. Add Video Files:
    • Add your video files. You can add a minimum of two and a maximum of sixteen files.
  4. Select Template:
    • Click “Next” to open the template window.
    • Choose a template based on the number of video files you are merging.
    • Click “Next” after selecting your template.
  5. Arrange Videos:
    • In the Split Screen preview, each video will display with a file name and thumbnail.
    • Rearrange videos by clicking and dragging them within the template.
    • Toggle audio on or off for each video using the icon in the bottom right corner.
  6. Add Separate Audio (Optional):
    • Click “Next” to proceed.
    • To add separate audio, click “Browse” and select your audio file.
    • You can loop the audio or play it once, and choose the start position based on frames or time.
    • Click “Skip” if you do not wish to add separate audio.
  7. Finalize and Export:
    • Name your video and customize the export location.
    • Optionally, adjust the video resolution.
    • Click “Export” to complete the merge operation.
  8. Redact Video (Optional):
    • Use Manual Redaction, AI Automatic Redaction, or Audio Redaction on the exported video file.
    • After redactions are made, click “Export” again for a fully redacted Split Screen video.
