Welcome to the CaseGuard Studio Training Course

Hi everyone! Welcome to the CaseGuard Studio training course. Let’s start by creating our first redaction project.

Creating a Redaction Project

A redaction project is like a folder that holds all your files, including both original and redacted versions. You can create redaction projects in CaseGuard Studio in two ways:

  1. Using the File Dropdown Menu: On the left-hand side of your workspace, select “New Project” from the dropdown menu.
  2. Create New Project Button: Click on the “Create New Project” button located underneath the File dropdown menu.

Let’s proceed by clicking on the “Create New Project” button.

Setting Up Your Redaction Project

  • Storage Location: From the “Create New Project” pop-up window, choose where you’d like to store the project on your machine, such as under the C Drive.
  • Project Name: Give your redaction project a descriptive name for easy future reference. Let’s name it “caseguard-training-course”.
  • Additional Information: You will find a “More information” button with fields for the requestor’s name, case number, and request date. These are useful for legal purposes, but you can leave them empty for this example.

Once you’ve decided on the storage location and project name, click the “Create Project” button to generate your first redaction project.

Adding Files to Your Redaction Project

Clicking on the “Create Project” button will open up the file explorer, allowing you to add files to work on within CaseGuard. Let’s add the video you plan to use for manual redaction in the next video.Note: Adding a file to a redaction project creates a copy of the original file within your redaction project folder without altering the original file on your machine.

Project Files Panel Tools

In the project files panel, you have access to several useful tools:

  1. Add Files: Represented by a file icon with a plus sign, this allows you to add files to your redaction project.
  2. Remove: Represented by a trash icon, this allows you to remove files from your project without affecting the original file on your machine.
  3. Refresh Project Files: Represented by two arrows icon, useful for reflecting updates made outside of CaseGuard Studio.
  4. Open Project Folder: Represented by an open folder icon, this tool helps access all your redaction project files.
  5. Compare Files Side by Side: Represented by a scale icon, this tool lets you play two videos next to each other for comparison purposes.

Practice Adding and Removing Files

Let’s practice adding different types of files:

  • Add an audio file using “Add Files”.
  • Add a PDF file in the same way.
  • Click “Open Project Folder” to view all added files.
  • Remove the PDF file by selecting it and clicking “Remove”, then confirm deletion.
  • Check your project folder again using “Open Project Folder” to see only two files remaining.
  • Remove the audio file as well and verify that only one file is left.

Conclusion

In this training session, we created our first project, added and removed files from it, and used “Open Project Folder” to locate our project files. Now, we can move on and start working on our first video redaction.
