Automatically Redacting Private Information in CaseGuard Studio
Welcome back to the CaseGuard Studio training course. In this video, we will cover AI automatic audio redaction. Previously, we learned how to manually redact audio in four different ways. Now, let’s explore how to automate the process using AI.
Setting Up Your Redaction Project
- Create a New Project: Start by creating a redaction project using a 911 call that contains personal identifying information (PII).
- Transcription and Analytics Panel: Pin these panels for easy access.
Automatic Transcription
- Auto Transcribe: Click the blue “auto transcribe” button in the transcription panel to open the AI transcription pop-up window.
- Select Language: Choose the spoken language. CaseGuard supports transcription in up to 31 languages, including different dialects.
- Speaker Identification: CaseGuard can identify up to 10 different speakers.
- Transcription: Click transcribe.
Editing and Redacting Transcription
- Locate Words: Right-click any word or phrase in the transcription and select “go to position” to locate it in the audio file.
- Edit Speakers: Highlight a speaker, right-click, and select “edit” to give them a name (e.g., Jane Doe). Click Replace all.
- Redact Words/Phrases: Highlight words or phrases and click mute or bleep audio. This can also be done for entire sentences.
- Search and Redact: Use the search bar to find specific words (e.g., “wallet”) and redact them using mute all or bleep all buttons.
Using the Analytics Panel
- View PII Categories: The system categorizes PII into groups like Names, Phone Numbers, Addresses, etc.
- Redact PII: Select a category (e.g., Names) and redact individually or all at once by clicking mute all search results.
- Block Words: Hover over any word/phrase and use the block button to prevent certain PII from being redacted.
Managing Blocked Analytics
- View Blocked Analytics: Click on “view blocked analytics” at the bottom of the analytics panel to manage blocked items.
Exporting and Viewing Transcriptions
- Print Reports: Click “print reports” at the top of your workspace to access unredacted transcriptions.
- Export File: Export your file; redacted transcriptions will replace PII with [mute] and [bleep].
- View Redacted Transcription: Access it through the print reports button.
Transcribing from Video
- Open your audio wave by clicking show/hide audio wave.
- Ensure transcription and analytics panels are pinned.
- Click auto transcribe, select language and speakers, then transcribe.
- Apply redactions as needed using the same methods as with audio files.
Once your redactions are complete, click export. In the next video, we will cover some of CaseGuard’s video editing features. See you there!
