In Memory of Sergeant Tomas Infante, Sr.

Texas has faced yet another tragic death of a law enforcement officer due to the ongoing COVID19 pandemic. On Sunday, August 22, 2021, Sergeant Tomas Infante, Sr., badge number 703, died due to complications from contracting the coronavirus while on the job. COVID19 has taken the lives of hundreds of Texas law enforcement officers. Texas has been hit with more losses in law enforcement due to the coronavirus than any other state. Sergeant Infante was 47 years old.

Sergeant Infante likely contracted the virus when he provided security at a yearly charitable event in Houston. He was assigned to crowd control for the Morales Funeral Home Back to School Giveaway.

Infante worked for his community as a sworn officer with the Harris County Constable’s Office for nearly 12 years. After Sergeant Infante graduated from Lone Star College Police Academy in 2008, he joined the HCCO.

Harris County Constable’s Office – Precinct 6, Texas

Sgt. Infante was a member of the Harris County Constable’s Office and worked at Precinct 6. He is the fourth officer to die in the line of duty at this particular precinct.

HCCO provides an additional source for law enforcement programs. Constables have the same arresting power as the sheriff or any other law enforcement officer. Much of the work that constables perform provides courtroom security, civil service, and additional law enforcement services to the residents of Harris County.

Precinct 6 has several divisions which explain the scope of their work, including Absent Student Assistant Program, Civil and Writs Division, Communications Division, Court Security Detail, East End Improvement Corporation, Gulfgate Center Detail, High-Water Rescue Team, Housing Division, Patrol, Reserve Deputy Program, and the Warrant Division.
