In Memory of Sergeant Scott M. Patton
Pennsylvania officials were devastated to hear that a local police officer had died due to the COVID19 pandemic. Pennsylvania has lost several officers to the deadly pandemic this year. The coronavirus, COVID19, has become the number one cause of line of duty deaths among law enforcement in the US.
On Saturday, November 6, 2021, Sergeant Scotty M. Patton died due to complications from contracting the virus while on the job. The 45-year-old officer most likely contracted the virus while on the job. Early at the outbreak’s start, Americans learned that certain occupations carry a much greater risk of contracting the virus. For law enforcement, their jobs entail contact with people throughout the day, and many times there is no option for social distancing. In addition, corrections officers have died in record numbers as the virus has exploded throughout jails, prisons, and other institutions.
Sgt. Patton had served his local community as a sworn officer with the Robinson Township Police Department for over 11 years.
